Role Summary
The Career Development and Planning Specialist will provide strategic leadership and hands-on support to individuals seeking guidance on career paths, skill development, and employment opportunities. This role involves designing programs, building partnerships, and offering personalized advice to empower individuals to achieve their professional goals.
Key Responsibilities
Program Development and Management
Design and implement career development programs, including workshops, seminars, and events focused on career planning, skill-building, and employability.
Create resources such as career guides, templates for resumes/cover letters, and self-assessment tools.
Develop and maintain an up-to-date database of career paths, industry trends, and job market insights.
Individual Career Planning
Conduct one-on-one counseling sessions to assist individuals in understanding their strengths, interests, and career aspirations.
Guide individuals through the development of personalized career plans, including short-term and long-term goals.
Provide support for job application processes, including resume reviews, interview preparation, and portfolio feedback.
Industry Engagement and Networking
Build and maintain strong relationships with employers, alumni, and industry professionals to expand networking opportunities and job placements.
Organize career fairs, recruitment drives, and networking events.
Facilitate internships, mentorship programs, and experiential learning opportunities.
Skill Development and Training
Collaborate with academic and training departments to integrate career-focused skill development into educational programs.
Identify and recommend relevant certifications, workshops, and learning opportunities to enhance employability.
Data and Reporting
Track and analyze career progression metrics, placement statistics, and program effectiveness.
Provide regular reports and insights to stakeholders, suggesting improvements to enhance outcomes.
Qualifications & Skills
Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Education, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification in career development or counseling is preferred.
Experience
3-5 years of experience in career counseling, human resources, or a related field.
Proven track record of designing and executing career development programs.
Familiarity with modern career tools, job platforms, and assessment tools.
Skills
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with diverse individuals.
Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and trends.
Proficiency in career management platforms and tools (e.g., LinkedIn, ATS systems, etc.).
Ability to multitask and manage projects within deadlines.
