Job Title: Dean – School of Design

About the Role
The Dean of the School of Design will provide visionary leadership to establish and advance the school’s academic excellence, research initiatives, and industry collaborations. The Dean will be responsible for strategic planning, curriculum development, faculty recruitment, and fostering a vibrant learning environment that nurtures creativity and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement the school’s strategic plan aligned with the university’s mission and goals.
Academic Oversight: Oversee curriculum development, ensuring programs are current, competitive, and aligned with industry standards.
Faculty Management: Recruit, mentor, and evaluate faculty members to maintain high teaching and research standards.
Research & Innovation: Promote a culture of research and innovation, encouraging interdisciplinary projects and securing research funding.
Industry Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with industry partners to facilitate internships, placements, and collaborative projects.
Student Development: Ensure a supportive environment for student growth, addressing academic and extracurricular needs.
Operational Management: Manage the school’s budget, resources, and administrative functions efficiently.
Accreditation & Compliance: Ensure programs meet accreditation standards and comply with regulatory requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
Educational Background: Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in Design or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 10 years in academia, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a design school or department.
Industry Exposure: Demonstrated experience in collaborating with the design industry, understanding current trends and demands.
Research Credentials: A strong portfolio of research publications, exhibitions, or design projects.
Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead diverse teams, manage change, and drive academic excellence.
